Home, sweet home The vibrant expression of the British way of life “It is essential
for an extension to flatter the existing architecture and discreetly harmonise.”
A creator of sublime
conservatories, orangeries and garden rooms made of exotic
hard wood, David Salisbury's philosophy is openly expressed in this Edwardian
style conservatory with gable. Made in 2006 in the South-West of England, not
far from Bristol, this 18m2 extension fits perfectly with the original building
and subtly enhances it. In order to get to this astonishing result, David Salisbury
built a bedrock stone wall to match the style of the house. The builders also
created windows with Georgian style panes, so that the conservatory harmonises
with the openings of the beautiful English home. Finally the beauty, the subtlety
and the warmth of the painted wood (blue grey shade) associate brilliantly with
the shade of the stone. This is enough to give the impression that this extension
has always existed... The argon filled double glazing at the front is highly
insulating. On the roof, it provides a solar control option . The frame wood
does not require any particular care. It is protected by a very performing automatic
spraying and a rollover made out of invisible foil. The architecture on the
roof is unusual. The central gable is framed in between two roof panes that
join at the sides of the conservatory on a slant. Two doors and four windows
open through to the garden and the invigorating greenery. Two skylights enable
the air to be renewed and help avoid the unpleasant summer greenhouse effect.
Equipped with electric under floor heating, this wonderful accomplishment offers
all the guaranties of a perfect comfort, whatever the season. It is impossible
to resist the charms of this exten-
