Record Sales December 2009

David Salisbury can report a record order intake for December 2009, beating the previous record set in January 2008. Demand for our conservatories and orangeries has never been higher. It is clearly too early to say whether the market is recovering from the adverse affects of the financial crisis, or whether David Salisbury as a company is taking more market share. Either way it is very good news for the company and its employees.

VAT held at 15% for whole contract until December 09

David Salisbury will absorb the VAT increase on all orders placed before 31st December 2009. This will apply to all conservatories and orangeries regardless of when they are to be installed.

Sliding Sash Windows

We have always provided Sliding Sash windows as an option in Conservatories and Orangeries but we are now offering these as a stand alone product for replacement or new work. These can be the traditional weighted variety or the slim-line version using spring balances. In response to a clear and increasing demand, we have recently started selling sash windows directly for new developments and replacements into existing buildings. Together with our range of casement windows and sliding folding doors, we can provide a complete integrated solution for all external joinery requirements. If you already have a David Salisbury conservatory, we can provide your replacement windows and doors to the same high quality you received before.

Conservatories and Orangeries back in Demand

The last two months has seen a revival in demand for Conservatories and Orangeries in the UK. There seems to be a clear trend for house holders who may have been considering moving house, to stay where they are and improve. By adding a Conservatory or Orangery to your property you get that extra living space without the expense of moving in an uncertain housing market. After several months of reduced sales after the banking crisis first broke, we are now seeing a clear revival of demand for our products, with orders in April and May higher than at any time in the last 12 months.

Quality Partners for Our Customers

Staff in our Customer Services team are often asked by customers for contact details of suppliers who can provide them with accessories for their new conservatories and orangeries, such as cane furniture, conservatory blinds, lighting, and climate control systems. Consequently, our Marketing Department have been working to identify the best possible partners in these areas. This activity is being carried out using detailed selection criteria, that apply similar values and attributes to our selves in the selection process. Careful attention has been paid to assessing product quality, after sales service and support, and overall value.

New Brochure Goes To Print

David Salisbury has produced an exciting and entirely new brochure, which has just gone to print. It will be available by the end of November and unlike the previous brochure which was divided into sections such as Conservatories, Orangeries, Swimming Pool Covers, Windows and Doors etc., this new brochure uses the theme of Working in Harmony. The sections are “Working in Harmony with architecture”, “Working in Harmony with the landscape”, “Working in Harmony with the way you live”, and more. Each section contains examples of our work to illustrate the title and show how we like to work with you whether you want a conservatory or an orangery or any other product that we offer.

This new publication has been brought right up to date with the new David Salisbury branding which has been seen in our advertising since the beginning of the year. It is packed with 85 pages of photographs and explanations, and all customers calling us for the first time will be sent a copy from the end of November. We will also send it out to everyone who has made an enquiry in the last few months, providing fresh new inspiration for our customers deciding what design of conservatory or orangery they are going to create with David Salisbury.

Striving for customer service excellence

Customers who commission a hardwood conservatory or orangery seek not just a high quality product and a beautiful design – but the very best standards of customer care as well. Mr and Mrs Brown, of Henley, were so impressed with David Salisbury’s commitment to customer service, that they wrote to us to say, “We are delighted with our conservatory – it’s a fantastic product and looks amazing – thank you! All the praise for you all is genuine and deserved. That really impressed me was the fact you saw the job right through professionally to the end. We will definitely be recommending you to anyone who asks. Also even on these cold mornings it seems to be holding the heat well so I’m particularly pleased with this – we have an Aga in the kitchen and I thought maybe all the lovely warmth would disappear but no so ! Very best wishes and say hello to everyone down there and tell them how impressed we are!”

Folding Sliding Doors

Folding sliding doors (or bi-fold doors) are becoming increasingly popular as they can open far wider than conventional French doors and provide that all important uninterrupted sight line. David Salisbury designs and manufactures hardwood folding sliding doors to the highest standards and now uses them extensively in it’s conservatory, orangery and garden room designs. They are available in 9 flexible outward opening stacking configurations using up to 7equal door panel widths with a recommended maximum overall system width of 5m.

An Evening to Remember

We would like to thank our customers, Allan and Lindsay, for inviting us to sponsor a very special event which they hosted on Saturday 17th May 2008. The event was called “A Rainbow of Magical Music” and it certainly lived up to its name with internationally celebrated pianist, Derek Paravacini, and TV vocalist, Kate Somerset How, delivering unforgettable performances. The event was in support of The Rainbow Centre in Fareham, Hampshire which helps children with cerebral palsy and similar conditions and provides support to their families. The evening was a wonderful success and raised a substantial sum of money for this worthy charitable cause. It is always of interest to know how our customers use their conservatories and, on this occasion, the 8 metre long hardwood conservatory worked beautifully as a grand entrance hall that guests walked through on arrival at the concert.
